Wildlife
On our first foray into Sooke, the town closest to Point-No-Point, we saw a black bear cub on the side of the narrow, winding road. This was the first of many encounters with the wonderful wildlife in the area. We saw seals, sea lions, ospreys, a woodpecker, and sea urchins. We poked anemones with bird feathers, got "mugged" by a humpback whale, and saw a river otter running into the water. We held starfish, and then carefully placed them back. We made trumpets out of giant pieces of hollow kelp, and saw fish and birds we could not identify. On two occasions, we saw bald American eagles take flight. Much of what we saw we didn't photograph, and much of what we photographed doesn't capture what we saw. But that's okay, we will always have the memories :)
